Staff Intensivist, Cardiac Critical Care

The Department of Critical Care Medicine, Division of Cardiac Critical Care at The Hospital for Sick Children is inviting applications for the position as full-time faculty. The effective date of this appointment is September 1st 2018.

Primary Description – The candidate must have training and a clinical background in pediatric cardiac intensive care. Responsibilities include full-time equivalent clinical pediatric cardiac critical care practice, and research, education, and administrative responsibilities as required by a Staff Physician in the Department of Critical Care Medicine. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required.

The successful candidate must be committed to a career as an academic clinician. The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto The candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Medical staff appointments in the Department and at The Hospital for Sick Children are aligned with clinical faculty classifications at the University of Toronto and as specified by the Toronto Academic Health Science Network (TAHSN).

Dedicated exclusively to children and their families, The Hospital for Sick Children is a world-renowned, state-of-the-art paediatric health care facility affiliated with the University of Toronto. The hospital is committed to ongoing learning and development, and features a caring and supportive work environment. The Division of Cardiac Critical Care Medicine currently comprises 7 Physicians, and is responsible for the comprehensive care for all patients admitted to the Cardiac Critical Care Unit, including mechanical support of the circulation. Clinical responsibilities may also include participation in other collaborative teams within the Labatt Family Heart Centre depending on interests, experience and qualifications.

Salary will be between the range of $266,000 - $380,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Life, Group Insurance, Pension, Vision.
