Chief Executive Mental Health
The Mental Health Commission is an independent statutory agency
established since 2002 under the provisions of the Mental Health Act,
2001. The principal functions of the Commission are to (i) promote,
encourage and foster the establishment and maintenance of high
standards and good practices in the delivery of mental health services
and (ii) to take all reasonable steps to protect the interests of persons
detained in approved centres.
The Chief Executive is responsible for the effective leadership and
management of the overall strategic direction of the Commission and
the statutory responsibilities as set out in the Mental Health Act, 2001
and the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015.
