Career Opportunity in Palliative Care

The Division of Palliative Care is seeking 3 Full Time Associate Palliative Care physicians. 

The physicians will work in a multidisciplinary team along with 13 other Palliative Care physicians to provide consultation for patients in multiple settings including: the outpatient Supportive & Palliative Care Clinic, the inpatient medical oncology/palliative unit, Long Term Care, Hospice, Survivorship, Virtual Palliative Care, and in the community. The physicians will share in the provision of on call coverage for both the inpatients and community patients under the team’s care.  Remuneration is fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees and HOCC stipends for participating in the Hospital On-Call Coverage program.   The physicians will collaborate with regional partners and participate in a regional network of palliative care providers for education and collective growth.

As an affiliated academic community teaching site for the McMaster University Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine: Family Medicine program and a key clinical partner for the new School of Medicine with Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), there is ample opportunity to participate in clinical education with medical students and residents.  It is also an officially designated site for the training of the Royal College sub-speciality in Palliative Medicine and ESMO designated site of Integrated Oncology/Palliative Care.  The preferred candidate would be expected to participate in teaching and seek an academic appointment with the University of Toronto and McMaster University.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to join one of the fastest growing community hospitals offering innovative research opportunities, access to cutting edge technology, and a supportive physician wellness programs.  The preferred candidate must have a certificate of registration to practise from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and hold a fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or certification in Family Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada.  A certificate of added competency training and experience in Palliative Medicine is a requirement.
