The Department of Clinical Neurosciences (http://www.ucalgary.ca/dcns/), Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, in conjunction with Alberta Health Services, Calgary Zone, invites applications for an appointment with Tenure at the Associate Professor or Professor level to provide leadership to the Section of Neurology as its administrative, research, educational and clinical chief.

Minimal qualifications include an MD, Royal College specialist certification (or equivalent) in Neurology, and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta. Eligible applicants at the Associate Professor level must have demonstrated aptitude and evidence of leadership potential and, in addition, those at the Professor level already held leadership positions. An advanced degree in research or education (MSc or PhD) is desired, and a track record of participating in research, with demonstrated scholarship, is required. Desired candidates must have evidence of impactful peer-reviewed papers and demonstrated prior ability to establish a research or educational program, including evidence of external peer reviewed funding.

The appropriately qualified successful candidate would become a key member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI, http://www.hbi.ucalgary.ca/), at the Cumming School of Medicine (CSM), University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services (Calgary Zone). The Department of Clinical Neurosciences in partnership with HBI works collectively in advancing world-class neurology and neuroscience research and innovation, and educational excellence, together with exemplary patient care.

Duties for this position include the provision of clinical service in the Section of Neurology and clinical teaching. As the Head of the Section of Neurology, the successful candidate will be expected to provide excellent management, visionary leadership and the ability to engage and work collaboratively with key stakeholders. Salary support will be through an Academic Medical Health Services Plan in Neurology, supported by Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services and the Cumming School of Medicine.
