Cardiologist

Kelowna General Hospital and Kelowna Cardiology Associates are seeking a General Cardiologist with an interest in Heart Failure subspecialty to join our group.

KGH is the local referral center with a strong cardiology group providing diagnostic cardiac catheterization. The PCI program was introduced in 2009 with 4 members in the group with PCI/cardiac catheterization # over 3,000/year. Open heart surgeons performed their first case in December, 2012 with 3.5 cardiac surgeons in the dept. Plans are to perform > 700 pump cases next year. Electrophysiology space has been shelled into the expansion plans, and we anticipate the arrival of EP within the next few years.

Currently our group consists of 4 Interventionists and 6 General Cardiologists. With the recent expansion, there is a growing need in general cardiology with support in areas including: office and hospital consultations, AF clinic, CHF clinic, Rapid Access Cardiac Exam (RACE) Clinic, COACH cardiac rehab program, ICD/pacer clinic, clinical research trials and medical student / resident teaching. We are particularly looking for individuals with an interest in advanced CHF care or CCU with a desire also to be involved in general cardiology care. Qualifications:

• Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
• Doctorate in Medicine
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
• Advanced training in Heart Failure
• Eligible for licensure with CPSBC; Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory

Call Schedule:

• Hours of work: Full time
• On call requirements: 1:6 - 1:7

Compensation:

• Payment Structure: Fee for Service
• Estimated Gross Income: $500,000-$600,000, plus MOCAP level 1
• Overhead costs associated with private practice only
• Relocation assistance up to $10,000 maximum or $15,000 maximum if move is over 3,000 kms/international (with eligible receipts)
