Medical Director, Laboratory

Reporting to the VP Medicine & Quality, you will work with various stakeholders in laboratory services across the Interior Health region such as program directors, area directors, practice leads, medical-staff colleagues, site leadership, and provincial committees to provide practice guidance, medical expertise, and expert leadership relating to Laboratory services. You will participate in all relevant administrative/operational functions such as budget planning, quality assurance, utilization management, and strategic planning. You will also lead the engagement of laboratory staff members in understanding and helping to implement decisions made by the Leadership Team as related to laboratory services.

This leadership opportunity is a part-time position based out of Kelowna General Hospital. This role is ideal for a licenced pathologist interested in pursuing a more administrative role while maintaining their pathology practice. 

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
  • Medical leadership training and/or experience
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory

Call Schedule:

  • Administrative duties: (.5 FTE) with 46 weeks of service per year
