The Department of Surgery, Division of Neurosurgery at The Hospital for Sick Children is inviting applications for a full time Staff Neurosurgeon, Division Head. The effective date of this appointment is September 15th 2018.

The candidate should have a strong academic background and is expected to complement and ultimately advance the Division’s world leading clinical, educational and research productivity. The candidate should have expertise in all facets of pediatric neurosurgery, but with particular expertise in specific areas both clinically and in research. The candidate should be an established academic Neurosurgeon with an outstanding international reputation.

The candidate must be able to function proficiently in English and hold an M.D., MBBS or equivalent. He/she must also be eligible for appointment at the rank of Full Professor at the University of Toronto and be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Dedicated exclusively to children and their families, The Hospital for Sick Children is among the largest children’s hospitals in North America and has a long history of excellence in clinical care, research and education. It is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and is located adjacent to the University campus and to numerous specialty hospitals and biomedical research institutes.

The Division of Neurosurgery at the Hospital for Sick Children is comprised of six academic Pediatric Surgeons. Clinical activity is supported by Paediatric Neurosurgery Fellows, Residents on rotation, and Nurse Practitioners. Aside from our expert neurosurgeons, children treated here also benefit from the expertise of renowned neuro-oncologists, neurologists, neuroradiologists, neuropathologists and intensivists. The Division has major collaborative programs in Epilepsy and Functional Neurosurgery, Oncology, Hydrocephalus, Cerebrovascular, and Trauma.

Salary will be between the range of $200,000 - $600,000 for 40 hours work per week, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Life, Group Insurance, Pension, Vision.
