Paediatric Hematologist/Oncologist –Solid Tumor Section

Effective July 1, 2019 The Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Paediatrics, at the Hospital for Sick for Children (SickKids), an academic health science centre dedicated exclusively to children, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is recruiting a pediatric hematologist/oncologist to join the Solid Tumor Section to provide care for children with oncologic disorders, with a focus on solid tumors. The position is for an Academic Clinician. The Section includes members with clinical, translational and basic research interests in neuroblastoma, sarcomas, renal tumors, hepatoblastoma, germ cell tumors, retinoblastoma and rare tumors.

The successful candidate for this full-time permanent position will share in coverage of the in-patient and ambulatory oncology services, the Division’s procedures and out-of-hours physician on-call schedules. In addition, he/she will be provided protected time for research and teaching and other academic pursuits. Applications from individuals with an interest in, and commitment to, scholarly activities and a demonstrated interest and track record in basic, clinical or translational research in the area of solid tumors, precision medicine or other cancer-related topics are highly encouraged. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed additional research and/or clinical training in these areas.

Initial appointment at the Research Institute will be at the Project Investigator level to enable the candidate to engage in independent and collaborative research activities.

The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($230,000-$300,000) per annum will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefit package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, and a relocation package and may be eligible for mortgage assistance. All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English.

The candidate must hold an MD degree and must be certified or eligible for certification in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or comparable qualifications.
