Interventional Cardiologist

Percutaneous Coronary Interventionalist and Medical Director, Chronic Total Occlusion & Complex High Risk Indicated Procedure Program

Southlake is seeking an experienced Interventional Cardiologist to build and direct our new subspecialty program managing chronic total occlusions (CTO) and complex high risk indicated procedures (CHIP). In addition to specialized training in CTO and CHIP, the ideal candidate would have both research and leadership experience.

Southlake is a Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care designated and funded Regional Cardiac Program, serving 1.5 million people and 10 hospitals in the fast growing York and North Simcoe Muskoka regions. The cardiac medical staff currently includes 5 cardiac surgeons and 23 cardiologists, with groups sub-specializing in interventional, electrophysiology, invasive and non-invasive cardiology.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic interventional team at a high volume center with approximately 6,500 catheterizations, 2,400 angioplasties, and 550 primary PCI cases per year. The position also includes practice privileges at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie Ontario, an affiliated stand-alone PCI center for which Southlake is the mentor site. The new CTO/CHIP program will share a research platform, database and clinic structure with the coronary physiology and structural heart programs. The recent expansion from two to three catheterization labs will allow dedicated and protected lab time for CTO/CHIP procedures.

The successful candidate must hold or be eligible to hold an Independent Practice license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and be Royal College certified. As a university-affiliated hospital, educational licensing may be an option for exceptional candidates.
