The Division of Endocrinology, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, in conjunction with the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, is seeking a full-time Academic Endocrinologist fulfilling the academic position description of Clinician Teacher. The candidate must be eligible for an appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. Expected start date is July 1, 2019 or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.

We are seeking a physician who will deliver and foster excellence in clinical care in all areas of endocrinology, with a particular focus on endocrine oncology. The candidate will also provide exceptional teaching in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the University of Toronto. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will become the education site director for Sunnybrook endocrinology. The successful candidate will devote 60 to 75% of their time to clinical care, and will spend at least 40 hours per year in formal teaching outside of clinical care. The primary language of work will be in English.

The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; have or be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Endocrinology; and have or be eligible for licensure to practice medicine from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated excellent clinical teaching abilities, which will be measured by the presence of a strong track record of excellence in student and resident education, formal training in teaching methodology, awards, leadership as a clinical educator, and other relevant experience. For appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher, the candidate must hold either a graduate degree in education or a related field, or at least one year of post-residency fellowship with training in health professions education. In addition, the candidate must have at least one peer-reviewed publication as first author, or demonstration of other creative professional activity. If appointed at the rank of Lecturer, it is expected that the successful candidate will progress to the rank of Assistant Professor.

Estimated remuneration will in the range of $150,000 to 300,000 per year (fee for service estimate). The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered. The candidate will be able to participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
