CLINICAL ACADEMIC POSITION – PAEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGIST

The Department of Paediatrics, Children's Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, is seeking a fully certified Paediatric Cardiologist to join our established Division of Paediatric Cardiology. The Division of Paediatric Cardiology provides comprehensive cardiac care for the children of southwestern Ontario population of about 2 million.  Our division is the tertiary referral center for infants, children and adolescents with congenital and inherited cardiac disease and provides specialist coverage for the Emergency Department, In-patient unit, Paediatric Critical Care Unit, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Paediatric Cardiac Program is a fully integrated program with specialized services including consultation and echocardiography, arrhythmia assessment including 24-hour Holter Monitoring, Trans-telephonic Event Recorders and Loop Recorders, Pacemaker surveillance and Stress testing (routine and metabolic) as well as Maternal/Fetal echocardiography. The program also provides transitioning services to Adult Congenital Heart Specialists for children with congenital heart disease who reach the age of 18 in the Paediatric Program. The program is integrated with the Ontario Provincial Paediatric Cardiac Network with the provision of Cardiovascular Surgery and Interventional Cardiology by SickKids in Toronto.

Candidates for this position must have an MD or equivalent degree and must be eligible for licensing in the Province of Ontario.  Subspecialty certification in Paediatric Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent is required. The ideal candidate would be an experienced academic with a demonstrated track record in research. The successful candidate will hold a full-time Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, or a Continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending upon qualifications and experience at the time of appointment.  Successful candidates will have a keen interest in academic medicine, the ability to collaborate effectively with all other members of the health care team and office staff, and will be expected to participate in team-based health care and teaching, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 

 

Compensation for this position will be primarily composed of an alternative funding plan and academic salary. The anticipated start date for this position is to be negotiated.
