The Departments of Medicine at St. Michael's Hospital’s and University of Toronto are seeking a qualified full-time academic Infectious Diseases specialist.  The candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Teacher and must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto.  The expected start date of the position is October 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter.

This position will support outpatient demands and inpatient consultations in addition to participating fully in the educational programs in Infectious Diseases at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto. The candidate will assume a leadership role within the Division directly related to the educational program.  The position will also provide Antimicrobial Stewardship support at the Providence Health Care site. 

The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Infectious Diseases by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). The successful candidate will participate fully in the educational programs in Infectious Diseases at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto and collaborate in clinical research and quality improvement programs. The successful candidate should be an effective teacher, committed to sustained excellence in teaching and scholarly contributions to teaching and education. Demonstrated achievement in teaching and education are strongly desired. Teaching experience will be measured by the presence of a strong track record of interest and excellence in resident and fellow education, leadership as a clinical teacher, and other relevant experience.

The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of Infectious Diseases at St. Michael’s Hospital. The Division currently consists of 8 full time specialists and provides comprehensive care including special interests in HIV treatment and prevention, sexually transmitted infections, tuberculosis, and Global and Migrant Health. Members of the Division are internationally recognized in both clinical and basic research, and participate fully in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs at the University of Toronto.
