Interior Health is expanding its Addictions Medicine program in Kelowna, BC and is looking for physicians to deliver services in all areas of the program.

The Kelowna Program is comprised of 4 unique services:

- Oral Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) Clinic

- Rapid access OAT

- Injectable OAT (iOAT) service **new April 2019**

- Acute Care Addiction Consult team (based at KGH)

Each of our services is delivered using an interdisciplinary approach to care with patients with opioid use disorder.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Certificant of College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
  • Clinical experience in the area of addiction medicine
  • Current methadone exemption for the treatment of opioid use disorder and suboxone certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Willingness to learn how to assess and prescribed injectable opioid agonist therapy (intravenous hydromorphone and diacetylmorphine) for individuals with refractory opioid use disorder
  • Ability to function and work collaboratively as a team
  • Experience in providing harm reduction focused addictions care
  • Experience in providing trauma-informed care
  • Should be certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) or International Society of Addiction Medicine (ISAM), or willing to work toward certification
  • Willingness to provide teaching to medical students, residents and allied health provides
