Grey Bruce Health Services (http://www.gbhs.on.ca/)

Grey Bruce Health Services (GBHS) operates six hospitals in southwestern Ontario with its Level 2 regional referral

hospital located in the City of Owen Sound.  A full range of specialty services are offered through the Departments of Anaesthesiology, Medical Imaging, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Oncology, Hospitalist Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pathology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery (ENT, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology).

Thriving rural hospitals are located in the communities of Lion’s Head, Markdale, Meaford, Southampton and Wiarton, servicing a range of ambulatory, inpatient and emergency needs. The corporation services a catchment area of over 170,000 residents and more than 2 million short-stay visitors each year.

Opportunity

The Pathology Department is expanding its medical staff complement to 5.5 FTEs, with an immediate opportunity for a 1.0 Full-Time Pathologist. Ideal candidates will have certification in General Pathology or in Anatomical Pathology with additional hematopathology training.

This is an interesting broad spectrum (general surgery, head and neck, gynecology, thoracic surgery and urology) practice opportunity that includes medico-legal autopsies. The laboratory is well equipped and includes a broad panel of automated immunohistochemistry. We have an in-depth Quality Assurance Program in which all members participate.

Facility

With annual ER volumes of over 95,000 visits across GBHS’ hospitals, 24-hour labs, excellent specialty back-up, and comprehensive medical imaging (CT, MRI, PACS capability), our modern facilities are very well equipped.  The Southampton hospital recently finished a renovation of its Emergency Department and Lab, while the new Markdale hospital build is underway.
