Clinical Academic Position – Neurologist (Movement Disorders)
The Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and the London Health Sciences Centre is seeking a full-time Neurologist with expertise in the treatment of Movement Disorders. The candidate will fill a clinical academic role as a Clinician Researcher at Western University. Applicants should be certified, or eligible for certification, in neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent. Candidates must have an MD, or equivalent, and must be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor/MD in a limited term (Clinical Academic) appointment.

The Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences is comprised of 36 Neurologists and 12 Neurosurgeons and is the single tertiary referral centre for Southwestern Ontario. The Department provides provide secondary, tertiary and quaternary services to a patient population of 1.8 million, but its referral base extends beyond the region to include areas in northern Ontario and a significant portion from the Niagara region – increasing this referral base to 3.5 million. London is the Regional Stroke Center for Southwestern Ontario and has a busy acute stroke and endovascular thrombectomy service.
The successful candidate is expected to be a contributing member of the Movement Disorders Program. Candidates will have completed at least two years of fellowship training in Movement Disorders in an academic environment in North America and a minimum of 1-year clinical experience in the independent management of Movement Disorders patients. The candidate will also be expected to participate in on-call activities and teaching for the general neurology CTU and stroke neurology CTU, including night time and weekend coverage. In addition to the subspecialty clinical requirements, candidates must have a proven ability in research. This will be demonstrated by a Master’s degree, PhD., or completion of a 1-year research fellowship in Movement Disorders. Preference given to candidates with an established record of research publications in Movement Disorders and neurophysiology in particular. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with other colleagues specialized in Movement Disorders, within the Department, and to generate national and international research collaborations.
Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience and will be composed primarily of the following sources: fee for service, alternative funding plan and academic support.
