Health Sciences North (HSN) is recruiting a permanent full-time general (AP/CP) or AP Pathologist with specialty training in neuropathology. As the tertiary referral centre for Northeastern Ontario, HSN, a 500-bed hospital, serves >600,000 residents and hosts the North Eastern Ontario Cancer Centre.

Our department currently includes 10 pathologists providing comprehensive pathology services to HSN and other hospitals in the region, including surgical pathology, cytology, neuropathology, hematopathology, flow cytometry, transfusion medicine, forensics, genomics, microbiology, chemistry. Our team also includes a PhD Biochemist and Microbiologist.

Duties include general surgical pathology, neuropathology, cytology, and frozen sections, with additional opportunities to participate in autopsy, genomics and laboratory management. Candidates wishing to practice autopsy and neuropathology without being involved in general surgical pathology and cytology signout will also be considered.

In addition to service work, pathologists at HSN are encouraged to participate in research at the HSN Research Institute and are required to seek faculty appointments at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. Clinical and academic work is completed at the HSN main site, 41 Ramsey Lake Road, Sudbury. Compensation is via fee-for-service billings to the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). English language skills are required, French language skills would be considered an asset.

Sudbury offers an exceptional quality of life, with excellent schools, abundant lakes and extensive recreational opportunities and is near Georgian Bay and Muskoka, and a 50 minute flight or 3-4 hour drive from Toronto.

Candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and have obtained, or be eligible to obtain, specialty qualifications from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and/or the American Board of Pathology. Pathway A candidates from the US will be considered.
