Academic Nephrologist

with Expertise in Glomerulonephritis             

The Division of Nephrology within the Department of Medicine at Queen’s University invites applications for the position of an Academic Nephrologist with expertise in Glomerulonephritis, Vasculitis, Obstetrical Nephrology, and other specialized kidney diseases. 

The incumbent will assist the Division in fulfilling its Clinical and Academic mission within the Department of Medicine. In addition to a clinical and research focus on the diagnosis and management of Glomerulonephritis, Vasculitis, Obstetrical Nephrology, and other specialized kidney diseases, the successful applicant would be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, engage in collaborative research, and contribute to the administrative functions of the University and Hospitals. This includes providing administrative support to the Specialized Kidney Disease program, which is a Regional Centre of Practice. The incumbent will participate in the Divisional group practice plan consistent with their personal role description, including periodic coverage of the in-patient ward and consultation service, out-patient clinics (including general nephrology consultations, multidisciplinary chronic kidney disease clinics, and transplantation), and dialysis (in-centre hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, home hemodialysis, and satellites units). Candidates may also be required to provide occasional in-patient coverage of the General Internal Medicine clinical teaching units. Protected time for research is possible for candidates that have a demonstrated program of basic or clinical research.

It is expected candidates will exhibit a history of providing exemplary clinical service, a strong potential for innovative and scholarly research, as well as provide evidence of a strong academic portfolio with demonstrable teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have an active research program and a successful track record of research publication. Candidates must also demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Candidates must be eligible for licensure in Nephrology with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Nephrology, as well as formal training and experience in Glomerulonephritis, Vasculitis, Obstetrical Nephrology, and other specialized kidney diseases.
