POSITION SUMMARY

The Internist hospitalist is hospital based and provides comprehensive consultant in-patient and out-patient services with an opportunity for involvement in cardiac services.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Provide consultations to the Emergency department and support family physicians, hospitalists and surgeons who are the Most Responsible Providers (MRP) for the majority of hospital inpatients. They may be MRP for some patients or involved in concurrent care based on clinical complexity of the patient. The Internist Hospitalist will work with the multidisciplinary team to provide care and services at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) in accordance with accepted and evolving standards of clinical practice. They will utilize excellent diagnostic and therapeutic skills for the assessment and management of a wide range of medical conditions.  There is an opportunity actively participating as a preceptor for medical trainees to develop inpatient acute care skills.

ON-CALL: Participating in the provision of 24/7 coverage with the other Internists.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must be a licensed physician in the Province of Ontario and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Internal Medicine. Applicant must be eligible for appointment to the Credentialed Staff at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.  Interpretation and reporting of electrocardiograms, supervision of cardiac stress tests and Holter monitor interpretation would be an asset, but not required.
