POSITION SUMMARY

This is a clinical position responsible for the provision of clinical geriatric consultation services. This successful candidate will provide leadership and consultation for Senior Friendly Initiatives within OSMH, collaboration with the NSM Specialized Geriatric Services to support a Regional Integrated Geriatric System and participation in the Couchiching Ontario Health Team. This successful candidate will also provide the opportunity to share in Internal Medicine call responsibilities. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Geriatric Consultation:

  • Provides in-patient geriatric consultations for hospitalized patients and patients admitted to the Acute Care of the Elderly Service in collaboration with other medical staff and assigned geriatric hospital staff
  • Participates in the development of strategic and operational plans for future seniors care (Acute Care of the Elderly Unit)

Seniors’ Care Clinic:

  • Established outpatient clinic with multi-disciplinary team affiliated with the Couchiching Family Health Team and other local partners
  • Participates in the development of strategic and operational plans to link the outpatient clinic with inpatient activities at OSMH
  • Provides specialized medical expertise and consultation to patients within an interdisciplinary team model

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must be a licensed physician in the Province of Ontario and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Internal Medicine. Applicant must be eligible for appointment to the Credentialed Staff at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.
