POSITION SUMMARY

Full service psychiatry consultant position for a 23 bed Schedule One Facility. Assessment and treatment of mental illnesses through multiple modalities, including psychotherapy, ECT, hospitalization, and medication. Supports include inpatient Mental Health Hospitalist team, outpatient clinic resources, Crisis team, Community Agencies and strong primary care referral base providing primary mental health care. Teaching opportunities exist with Rural Ontario Medical Program (ROMP) on an ongoing basis.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:  Provision of on-call services based at OSMH (Currently 1 in 3) with support from mental health hospitalists and crisis intervention staff. In-patient consultation for OSMH credentialed staff and regional partners, provision of out-patient clinics. Participation in strategic planning and program development of psychiatry services. Participation in ongoing quality improvement and safety activities.  Participation in hospital committees pertaining to specialty and as required by the credentialed staff by-laws.  Efficient use of resources.

COMPENSATION: Fee for Service, HOCC for on-call, Sessional Funding, Stipend Funding, Office/Billing/Secretary support.

QUALIFICATIONS: College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) unrestricted license that allows the physician to fulfil the requirements of this position and fellowship in Psychiatry recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) is required.
