Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Academic General Internist

The Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre are inviting applications for the position of an Academic General Internist.  This full-time appointment will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto with a position description as a Clinician Scientist or a Clinician Investigator at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. It is expected that the position will be approximately 25% clinical and 75% related to research for a Clinician Scientist, or 50% clinical and 50% related to research for a Clinician Investigator.  Expected start date is July 1, 2022 or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.

We are seeking a physician who will foster excellence in academic general internal medicine. Our hospital has established a strategic direction to “translate, implement, and evaluate personalized and precise treatments into clinical care”. The successful candidate will be expected to perform research with the goal of advancing this strategy. The successful applicant must demonstrate specialization and accomplishments in research. Research excellence will be assessed by the presence of research grants, publications in leading journals, invited presentations at conferences, awards, and other related accomplishments

The successful candidate will join the Division of General Internal Medicine, which currently has 19 full time members. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in general internal medicine clinical activities in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. They will also be expected to participate in the educational activities of the Division. Additional expertise in obstetrical medicine is highly preferred.

The successful candidate must hold an MD degree and a PhD degree, or currently be enrolled in a PhD program or have other equivalent training and experience; and must  have or be eligible for certification in Internal Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada;  and have or be eligible for medical licensure in Ontario.

Estimated compensation will be in the range of $250,000-$300,000 commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. 
The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered. The candidate will also be able to participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
