Humber River Hospital is one of Canada’s largest acute care hospitals, fully digital, and serving a diverse catchment area of more than 850,000 people in the northwest Greater Toronto Area.  HRH operates 722 acute inpatient beds with 3,400 staff, approximately 700 physicians, and over 1,000 volunteers. The Humber River Hospital currently includes the Wilson site, a 656-bed full service acute care facility that opened in 2015 and the Finch and Church sites, known as the "Reactivation Centres (RCC)". The RCCs represent a unique partnership among multiple hospitals in the GTA with a focus on high quality patient recovery as well as housing a community COVID-19 assessment centre. A 356 bed Long Term care facility “Humber Meadows” is currently under construction at our Finch Avenue site.  Our vision of Exceptional Care, Healthier Community and our focus on equity and inclusivity is something we share with our partners at the North West Toronto Ontario Health Team.

As Canada’s first digital hospital and home of the first Patient Care Digital Command Centre, a commitment to innovation, research and academic excellence remains at the core of our organization. We look forward to further development of these core elements through our recent membership in the Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network (TAHSN). Already providing many academic opportunities to all professions, we are committed to establishing a Family Practice Teaching Unit in partnership with University of Toronto in the next year, further strengthening our commitment to academia.

Humber River Hospital has a strong emphasis on quality, safety, and the patient and family experience. In 2018, HRH received Exemplary Standing from Accreditation Canada. This past year HRH received the Studer Group Award for Excellence in Canadian Patient Care and the Canadian Council of Health Service Executives Patient Safety Award.

One Geriatrician

The Division of Geriatric Medicine at Humber River Hospital is recruiting a Geriatrician to join our group of five.  As part of the Department of Medicine, geriatrics is well integrated through inpatient and outpatient care.  Geriatricians attend on a 32-bed acute geriatric care unit as well as caring for frail seniors post-hip fracture in a shared care model with orthopedic surgery.  Additional clinical rotations include inpatient consultation and outpatient geriatric medicine clinic (with both virtual care support and in-person evaluation).  Expected growth includes a complementary bone health clinic and community outreach opportunities.

The preferred candidate will have Royal College certification in Geriatric Medicine and be eligible for licensure in Ontario.  Humber River Hospital has an expectation that all physicians will apply for an academic appointment at one of our University affiliates. Your support for medical learners is key to our strategic plan as an academic centre and our participation as a member of the Toronto Academic Health Science Network.

We encourage all qualified applicants to apply in confidence by forwarding a cover letter and CV by
