Vernon Jubilee Hospital is a 160 bed acute care hospital serving the growing communities within the North Okanagan region of approximately 80,000 residents. The new 230,000 square foot Polson Tower at VJH is a state-of-the-art facility with leading-edge technology and was built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental design gold standards. This new tower offers a new and expanded Emergency department, Intensive Care and Coronary Care units, new Women’s and Children’s Services department, new operating theatres and medical device reprocessing department. Vernon Jubilee Hospital is also a satellite teaching hospital for the medical program at the University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus. Practice Details:

The Vernon Jubilee Hospital Emergency Room Physicians Group is currently seeking a full-time emergency room physician for employment effective immediately. Our ED sees approximately 35000 patient visits per year and encompasses a dynamic patient population reflective of our community's diversity. We are practising in a new and spacious ER with fantastic support staff and excellent specialist services. Our ERP Group is a keen and easy going crew actively involved in teaching both students and residents. We are a strong team seeking someone who envisions working in the same fun emergency practice we all share.

Full-time employment includes 12-15 shifts per month. Each member in our group also contributes to the non-clinical workload. We regularly teach students and residents in our ED. Candidates must have CCFP-EM, or FRCPC.

In the summer, the mountain biking is amazing with fantastic single track out the backdoor and world class downhill riding at Silver Star Mountain. For the golfers out there, several courses are local including the famed Predator Ridge. All of these activities in the heart of wine country! In the winter, we have powder skiing at Silver Star Mountain and unparalleled nordic skiing at Sovereign Lakes Nordic Centre.....20 minutes from downtown Vernon. Backcountry skiing and sledding are also easily accessible from our town. While the rest of Canada is in a deep freeze, we are enjoying mild winter temperatures that encourage an active outdoor lifestyle! Travel from Vernon is easy with Kelowna Int'l Airport just 20 minutes south of town. For a quick urban fix, Calgary and Vancouver are both less than 1 hour away by direct flight.

Qualifications:

  •  Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Emergency Medicine, or Certificant of College of Family Physicians of Canada – Emergency Medicine (CCFP-EM)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support Certification (ATLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS)
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory.

Additional Incentives:

  • Relocation Assistance - 9,000 - $15,000 * Relocation Assistance is applicable for 1.0 FTE positions and is based on move location (with eligible receipts).
