Academic Thrombosis Specialist

The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences (Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre) Hamilton invite applicants for an Academic Physician with expertise in thromboembolism to join the Division of Hematology & Thromboembolism. This is a full-time faculty position. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Applicants will have completed specialty training in Internal Medicine and further fellowship training in Thromboembolism. Completion of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Area of Focused Competence (AFC) Diploma Program in Adult Thrombosis Medicine would be an asset.

The successful candidate will provide clinical Thromboembolism in-patient services at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre, Hamilton and will contribute to the outpatient service in the city. The individual will be reporting to the Division Director of Hematology & Thromboembolism; Lead, Clinical Thromboembolism Program and Head of Service, Thromboembolism, Hamilton Health Sciences.

The successful candidate will be a full-time member of the Division of Hematology & Thromboembolism and be expected to contribute to the academic mission of the Faculty and Division. Depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications, either a Research Educator or Clinician Educator stream to promotion and tenure can be considered. The successful candidate should have a proven track record in undergraduate and/or postgraduate education and will be expected to fully participate in all the appropriate departmental and divisional educational activities.

Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.
