The Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Division of Rheumatology, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is inviting applications for the position of Academic Rheumatologist.  This Full-Time position will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto with a position description as a Clinician Investigator or Clinician Teacher at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. It is expected that the position will be 50-70% clinical and 30-50% related to research, teaching and/or administrative duties.  Expected start date is October 1, 2022 or another mutually agreeable date thereafter. 

 The successful candidate should have clinical expertise in complex rheumatic conditions, with experience caring for patients with systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases in context of pregnancy as well as renal/neurologic/oncologic conditions being welcomed assets. Expertise in point-of-care ultrasound and model of care in rheumatology will be an asset.

For candidates applying to the Clinician Investigator role, research excellence will be assessed by the presence of research grants, publications in leading journals, invited presentations at significant conferences, awards, accolades and other related accomplishments. 

For candidates applying to the Clinician Teacher role, candidate should have advanced training and/or a track record of teaching accomplishment.  Teaching accomplishment will be measured by the presence of a strong level of interest in education, excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, formal training in teaching methodology, teaching awards, leadership as a clinical educator and other relevant experience.

 The successful applicant will join the Division of Rheumatology which provide inpatient consultation service and ambulatory care to patients with rheumatic diseases. Responsibilities will include excellent clinical care of both in-patients and out-patients, liaison with primary care, supervision of trainees in clinical care setting, formal teaching and scholarly achievements.

 The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; have or be eligible for certification in Rheumatology/Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and have or be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

 Estimated remuneration will be in the range of $150,000-$300,000 (fee-for-service estimate) commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered. The candidate will be able to participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
