Psychiatry – We are growing

ADULT PSYCHIATRIST

Southlake is currently creating a new 12-bed adult mental health inpatient unit to accommodate additional patient volumes.  Currently Southlake has 9 PICU beds and 20 semi-private inpatient psychiatric funded beds.  The new unit, once complete in winter 22/23, will create 12 private rooms with support spaces for socializing, group therapy and dining.  Additional interview space and a large nursing station will provide additional areas for staff and patients.

Bring your subspecialty interest and/or training to a dynamic team of 14 full and part-time Adult Psychiatrists. Southlake has an Adult Inpatient Unit, Active Day Program, Brief Therapy Clinic, Schizophrenia clinic, Maternal Outpatient Clinic, Young Eating Disorder Clinic, Urgent Care Clinic, General Adult Outpatient Clinic, Addiction Medicine and a 24-hour first call Adult Crisis Team.  We have a busy Consult-Liaison service, two ACTT and PACT teams, Rapid Assessment for Psychopharmacologic Treatment (RAPT) Clinic.  Teaching medical students and Family Medicine Residents is a vital part of our activities.  The successful candidates will participate in teaching, provide call service (3-4 calls/month) and will have opportunity to take on leadership role, manage beds and become involved in clinical trials and program expansion.

CHILD & ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIST

Join a multidisciplinary team that currently includes 3 Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists.  As York Region’s designated Centre for Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Eating Disorders, we have 7 inpatient Child & Adolescent Mental Health Beds, Outpatient Child and Family Clinic, Eating Disorder Program, Child & Adolescent Crisis Program and Child & Adolescent Day Treatment Programs.  Subspecialty liaison with medical and surgical programs in the hospital and linkages via telepsychiatry to under serviced hospitals in the Region; areas in need of development.  A busy lucrative practice will be established rapidly given the Regional needs for psychiatric consultation and follow-up.

Our Professional Staff welcome new graduates and provide mentoring.
