Maitland Hospital is seeking a suitably qualified Anaesthetist to join our department in providing high quality, holistic, best practice anaesthetic services to inpatients and outpatients of Maitland Hospital and Lower Hunter Region facilities.

We are one of the fastest growing non-metropolitan regions in Australia, set in an idyllic location in the Lower Hunter Valley within a picturesque riverine landscape and historic buildings – perfect for work life balance. Maitland is well connected by road, rail and air, is located less than two hours’ drive north of Sydney, only 20 minutes’ drive from Hunter Valley Wine Region and 30 minutes from Newcastle and its pristine world renowned coastline and beaches.

Maitland Hospital relocated to a brand new facility in January 2022 and it is designed to continue meeting the expanding health service needs for the Lower Hunter Valley region.

Our department of Anaesthetics comprises of Consultants, Visiting Medical Officers and Career Medical Officers. We have a well-structured teaching and supervision program as our site is accredited for Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) training, General Practice Anaesthetic training as well as extended skills for ED and ICU training. We provide clinical leadership and operational management of anaesthetic services to complement the clinical, teaching, training and research activities of the Greater Newcastle Sector Anaesthetic Network.
