The Department of Internal Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, and Shared Health Manitoba invite applications for the position of Head of the Section of Neurology, one of 17 sections in the Department of Internal Medicine providing patient care, undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education and research. The successful applicant will be based at Health Sciences Centre and will report to the Department Head of Internal Medicine and Provincial Specialty Lead – Internal Medicine, Shared Health.
The 28 faculty members form a diverse section that includes a highly productive and internationally renowned Multiple Sclerosis research group and a residency training program. A new 28-bed acute stroke unit is under construction and scheduled to open later this year.
This is a geographic full-time, contingent position commencing September 1, 2022 or as soon thereafter as possible, for a term of five years, renewable upon favourable review. Rank will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. Remuneration is based on the Department of Internal Medicine salary scale for section heads, standardized according to the size of the section.
Candidates must have senior specialty qualifications in Neurology in the country of current practice and must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Certification in speciality of Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent is required. The successful applicant will have proven leadership abilities.
