Associate /Full Professor - Chair of Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto

The Department of Surgery, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto is inviting applications for the position of Chair of the Division of Vascular Surgery. This appointment is for a five-year term, with a renewal for a second five-year term after review. The effective date of this appointment is tentatively aimed for November 1, 2022.

The Division of Vascular Surgery includes three fully affiliated adult vascular services in university teaching hospitals and three partially affiliated community hospitals. The Chair of Vascular Surgery is responsible for the academic activities and residency and fellow training in the Division and plays a coordinating role the academic activities of the three units. These include clinical, teaching (undergraduate and postgraduate training programs) and research. The Chair will coordinate with the Program Director the direct entry five-year postgraduate training program, the fellowship program and foster further development of both clinical and basic science research within the Division.

The successful candidate should ideally possess prior leadership skills in hospital-based, University, or organized vascular programs and should have an established record of scholarly achievement and be eligible for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The preferred hospital site for the Chair’s clinical activities is to be negotiated with the successful candidate, should they be an external candidate. Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Evidence of excellence in teaching, research, and administration is required.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experienceand is based on fee for service billings, hospital- and university-based support.
