Assistant / Associate Professor - Gastroenterology, Clinician Scientist

The Department of Medicine, Temetry Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health (SH) is seeking to recruit a permanent, full-time Clinician Scientist in Gastroenterology with an advanced training in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and a focus in IBD translational research. Candidates must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date will be on October 1, 2022 or to be mutually agreed upon.

Candidates must hold MD and FRCPC qualifications or equivalent, be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Gastroenterology and have, or be eligible for licensure in Ontario.

The successful candidate must have research skills in translational research that aims to advance the understanding of the pathogenesis of IBD. Candidates with an expertise and a proven record in multi-omics analysis (eg, genomics, microbiome, metagenome, metabolome), and biostatistics/bioinformatics (eg, advanced machine learning) skillset, is preferred. The desirable qualities of the successful candidate would include an appropriate graduate degree (PhD or equivalent) and a strong and focused publication track record related to IBD translational research. In addition, excellent teaching abilities is required.

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the UHN and SH is a group of 33 luminal gastroenterologists and hepatologists. The Division has active clinical and academic programs in many areas of gastroenterology and hepatology including IBD, nutrition, pancreatic cancer, neurogastroenterology and motility, viral hepatitis, cholestatic and autoimmune liver diseases, fatty liver, portal hypertension, hepatocellular carcinoma and liver transplantation.

Depending on the academic rank, qualifications and experience, remuneration will be at least in the range of $250,000 and $350,000 through the Department of Medicine's Academic Practice Plan. No benefits will be provided directly by the Practice Plan.
