Academic Family Physicians

The Queen’s Department of Family Medicine is seeking family physicians to join the Queen’s Family Health Organization (FHO) in beautiful, historic Kingston, Ontario. Clinical responsibilities will be based within the Queen’s Family Health Team (QFHT). The preferred candidates will assume an existing practice and/or will roster new patients. They will be members of the on-call group providing call approximately two nights per month and four weekends per year.

The preferred candidates will have demonstrated experience or interest in clinical teaching of both undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees. With the implementation of competency-based medical education (CBME) and assessment into the department’s postgraduate program, the successful candidate will be required to participate on a regular basis in the supervision of residents and medical students. This will include serving as an academic advisor for assigned residents, completing field notes and in-training evaluations; participating in practice examinations and in the preparation of such examinations; and attending faculty development sessions, in addition to continuing medical education as per departmental expectations.

Applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario on or before the appointment start date, and preference will be given to applicants who have current, valid certification (or equivalent) in family medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
