Psychiatrist - Adult

Fraser Health Authority (FHA) and the Mental Health and Substance Use Program is seeking a Psychiatrist. This will be a a combination of Inpatient Psychiatry at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Community Psychiatry in the Abbotsford and Mission Communities. Primary focus will be adult psychiatry in the community as well as Developmental Disabilities Mental Health Services.

Inpatient Psychiatry: As a member of multi-disciplinary teams at all sites, you are required to provide a high standard of care to general psychiatric patients. Services include assessment, treatment and consultation, family meetings, case conferences, discharge planning, consultation and collaboration with other physicians and multidisciplinary teams. The psychiatrist will also promote continuity of care by maintaining good working relationships with all those providing care and services and advocating for the psychiatric needs of individual patients. Responsibilities include participation on the ECT and on-call rotation.
Abbotsford and Mission Mental Health and Substance Use Services: Primary focus will be adult psychiatry in the community as well as Developmental Disabilities Mental Health Services.

Participation in the Abbotsford Regional Hospital psychiatry on-call rotation is mandatory. The successful candidate will also participate in the medical education program for University of British Columbia (UBC) undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. Following receipt of a CPSBC license, arrangements will be made to apply for a clinical appointment with the Department of Psychiatry, UBC.

Facility: Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre

Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre is a 302 bed, University of British Columbia affiliated hospital offering medical, surgical, obstetrics, inpatient pediatrics, renal, cardiology, tertiary palliative care, helipad, as well as 24/7 emergency services with 77,032 visits annually.

Emergency Department Renovation and Redesign Project

The hospital recently underwent a renovation and redesign of its Emergency Department that now includes a dedicated area for mental health and substance use care, a new nursing substation, and a relocated ambulance bay, among other features, to help improve patient flow and experience.
