Senior Medical Consultant

The Health Sector Workforce and Beneficiary Services Division (HSWD) within the Ministry of Health is responsible for provincial health workforce strategies and policies that contribute to effectively meeting patient and population health needs and improving patient outcomes through the efficient delivery of health services.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Medical Consultant provides advice and support in the management of issues related to the MSC Payment Schedule (the Payment Schedule), including but not limited to: developing recommendations on behalf of the Medical Services Plan on proposed amendments to the Payment Schedule; consultative advice and direction with respect to adjudicating medical claims; identifying potential audit activities; and assisting in the development of administrative policy.

Qualifications for this role include:
- M.D. or equivalent.
- Must be licensed by and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) to practice medicine in BC. Physicians not currently licensed by the CPSBC must be eligible to register with the College.
- At least five (5) years of clinical experience, preferably within the last five (5) years.
