Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) is a 260-bed acute care facility boasting stable, state-of-the-art Programs within a team environment and with a dedicated staff that ensures high-level, patient-focused care. The organization comprises of two main hospital sites, the Brantford General Hospital and Willet Hospital. Located in the picturesque Grand River Valley 20 minutes west of Hamilton, our community offers outstanding recreational opportunities.  

BCHS is the area’s acute care facility, providing all of Brantford and Brant County's specialty programs and services for our 120,000+ residents and boasts stable, state-of-the-art programs within a team environment that ensures high level patient-focused care. We are a regional centre for a variety of services including surgical services and obstetrical care.

Our Surgical Assist service covers a variety of surgical procedures. The Surgical Assists work with the surgeons to provide surgical assistance for surgeries. Our surgical specialties including general surgery, urology, orthopedics, gynecology, obstetrics for cesarean sections and some pediatrics and ENT surgeries.

We are currently recruiting Surgical Assists to join our Surgical Assist Service. The preferred candidate will have independent practice license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Candidates with some experience assisting with surgical procedures including general surgeries, orthopedics and obstetrics/gynecology are encouraged to apply. Training is provided for interested applicants who do not have surgical assisting experience. They will be joining a dedicated group of surgical assists providing service at the Brantford General Hospital site.

The surgical assists schedule is flexible with accommodation for outside work commitments.  Remuneration for this work is Fee for Service (“FFS”) billings through the Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan with additional stipend for Hospital On-Call Coverage (HOCC) for associated on-call duties.

This position presents an opportunity to join a group of dedicated healthcare professionals in a progressive organization. Interested physicians must be licensed, or be eligible for licensure, to practice medicine independently in the province of Ontario.
