The Joint Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology at the Toronto General Hospital, University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health Systems (SHS) are seeking to recruit locum physicians to work within the Blood Disorders Program’s Red Blood Cell Disorders outpatient clinics. The anticipated start date is flexible, with immediate openings available, both full-time and part-time.

The Red Blood Cell Disorders clinic is North America’s largest comprehensive adult sickle cell and thalassemia clinic. It provides holistic care within a multidisciplinary team comprising nurse practitioners, social worker, and transition navigator.

The Blood Disorders Program is a core program within the Division of Medical Oncology & Hematology at the University Health Network.  As one of the top health networks in the world, the University Health Network encompasses both the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre as well as the Toronto General Hospital along with each of their respective world-class research institutes: The Ontario Cancer Institute and Toronto General Research Institute.  Ranked in the top 10 on Newsweek’s list of the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2022, the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre continues to be on the frontiers of hematology and oncology, embracing the latest technology and international best-practices and setting standards for patient care. 

Applicants should have a strong passion for the medical care of multisystem diseases, racialized populations, health literacy, and pain management. The successful applicant will have a proven ability to work independently, as well as interacting with a multidisciplinary team in the management of patients with hemoglobinopathies.  There is an option for virtual or in-person clinics and training, and support will be provided.

The successful applicant must hold an MD degree, have, or be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in Hematology or Internal Medicine (or equivalent), and have, or be eligible for independent practice licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.  The successful applicant must also hold a valid OHIP billing number, and obtain and maintain privileges at University Health Network and Sinai Health System.  Salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.  A highly attractive remuneration package is available.
