Staff Paediatrician

Unity Health Toronto, St Joseph’s Health Centre site in Toronto is inviting applications for a one year locum position in the Department of Paediatrics. St. Joseph’s is a fully accredited community teaching hospital with approximately 3200 deliveries per year, within the Unity Health Toronto network, serving Toronto’s west-end.  

St. Joseph’s provides care to a culturally and economically diverse population of about 530,000. Our hospital is a 400-bed facility that employs approximately 2,500 staff, along with 500 credentialed staff physicians. The Staff Paediatrician would provide full on call services and consultation for general paediatrics, including emergency, NICU, family birthing centre, paediatrics ward, walk-in clinic, paediatric consultation clinic and school outreach clinics. The paediatrician would provide on call services to our 19 bed level 2C Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in education, and/or clinical research. The successful candidate must have an aptitude and interest in quality improvement and will join our team of paediatricians, all of whom have University appointments.  

The candidate must possess exemplary clinical skills and professionalism, with evidence of excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.  The candidate will be part of a committed team of clinician educators within the Department of Paediatrics and will support teaching of undergraduate and post-graduate trainees.

The successful candidate must be proficient in English and be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor.   Certification in Paediatrics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as well as licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is a requirement.  Candidates must have Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage or equivalent in good standing.

Compensation will be by OHIP billings and by on-call stipend.

The anticipated start date is Nov 1, 2022 or as mutually agreed upon.
