Description:
The Department of Surgery, Division of Urology at Women’s College Hospital is inviting applications for the position of Urologic Surgeon in Transition Related Surgery (TRS), Urethral Reconstruction and Functional Urology. The effective date of this appointment is flexible, with an appointment date of January 1, 2023 or earlier.

Responsibilities include a full clinical urology practice, research, education, and administrative responsibilities as required of a full-time surgical faculty member. The successful candidate will be primarily based at Women’s College Hospital and will be a full member of the Women’s College Hospital Department of Surgery practice plan. This position includes a cross appointment with the Sinai Health System with a requirement to provide on-call coverage and acute care urologic surgery services.

Clinical focus: The successful candidate will have specialized fellowship training in transgender surgery (both feminizing and masculinizing) and genital/urethral reconstruction, and participate in a centralized, integrated, team-based program in this field. An ambulatory surgical practice and a strong foundation in general urology is essential.

Research: A background at a Masters level or higher (enrolled or completed) in research, education or management is a prerequisite as a foundation to support academic scholarship. Evidence of past achievement in research via peer reviewed publications, scientific presentations or research grants is required.

Education & Teaching: A commitment to education and evidence of excellence in teaching is required.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to provide effective and collaborative leadership at the hospital, provincial and national level. Advocacy and a commitment towards the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is an expectation of their leadership role.

The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Surgery, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The candidate must be able to function proficiently in English.

Salary is anticipated to be between $200,000 -$400,000 and is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Estimates are based on fee-for-service billings.
