Academic Family Physician - Program Director

The Department of Family Medicine seeks a full-time academic family physician - Program Director.

The Program Director is the faculty member responsible for administering the overall conduct of the residency program.

The preferred candidate will possess leadership ability, strong communication and interpersonal skills, effective advocacy skills, and be committed to continuous learning.

The preferred candidate will also have demonstrated experience or interest in clinical teaching of both undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees. With the implementation of competency-based medical education (CBME) and assessment into the department’s postgraduate program, the successful candidate will be required to participate on a regular basis in the supervision of residents and medical students.

Clinical responsibilities will be based at the Queen’s Family Health Team in Kingston and include taking call approximately two nights per month and four weekends per year.

Preference will be given to applicants who can provide evidence of current involvement and commitment to education through the submission of an educational dossier and the identification of referees who can attest to the applicant’s educational expertise. A Master’s level degree is considered an asset.

Applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario on or before the appointment start date, and preference will be given to applicants who have current, valid certification (or equivalent) in family medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
