Hematopathologist (Locum and/or Full-Time) Division of Hematopathology, Laboratory Medicine Program

The Laboratory Medicine Program of Eastern Health invites expressions of interest for a Hematopathologist locum and/or full-time position. Candidates with interest and/or experience in lymphoma diagnosis, transfusion medicine and coagulation are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background or interest in directing laboratory transfusion medicine services.
The Division of Hematopathology offers tissue (lymphoma) diagnosis, transfusion medicine, bone marrow pathology, flow cytometry, hematology core lab, coagulation, and hemoglobinopathy services. It also provides training to medical laboratory technology students, medical students, anatomic pathology, and other medical residents. The candidate will provide consultative services for a wide variety of patient programs including hematology, and for bleeding & coagulation disorders, bone marrow transplantation and blood transfusion.
This position is located at Health Science Centre, within Eastern Health, and is a teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University. Through strong formal affiliations with Memorial University, and on the recommendation of the Discipline Chair, the successful candidate may be eligible for a clinical faculty appointment in the Academic Discipline of Laboratory Medicine
- To be considered candidates must hold a MD
- Certification by the Royal College Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (or equivalent) in Hematopathology.
- All applicants must be eligible for licensure to practice by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of NL.
- Satisfy credentialing requirements of Eastern Health including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
Hours of Work: 75 hours bi-weekly plus on-call obligation
Remuneration: Salary and benefits for this position are to be paid in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in NL. Salary including pathology bonus ranges from $313,672 - $345, 596 and commensurate with the level of experience
