Radiation Oncologist for SBRT Program

The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency provides leadership in health promotion, early detection, treatment and research for cancer. The Cancer Agency operates two treatment centres: the Allan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina and the Saskatoon Cancer Centre.

Job Duties:

The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency is seeking an individual for a permanent 1.0 FTE Radiation Oncologist as a full time Clinical Radiation Oncologist.  The qualified candidate will be working as part of care teams, including nurses, pharmacists, radiation therapists, clinical associates, dietary, speech-language, social work, volunteers and other oncology and affiliated physician colleagues.  Each department operates Varian equipment and planning software, including truebeam linear accelerators with MLC, OBI and cone beam imaging.  CT simulator with a Siemens Somatom Confidence unit.  There is an active HDR gynecologic brachytherapy program, and established SRS brain and SBRT lung programs with expansion to other sites.The oncologists are members of clinical trial groups including Alliance, NCIC, CTG and NRG, and are involved in teaching medical students and residents.

A competitive compensation package is offered and will be commensurate with experience. The current salary range is $340,263 - 439,113 plus benefits.

Call Schedule Description:

  • The call schedule will be established based on an equal rotational basis with other radiation oncologists in the department(s).
  • Compensation for on-call coverage is at the standard rate of payment prescribed by the Saskatchewan Ministry.
  • We have a strong clinical associate group who provide first call coverage.

Our oncologists are eligible for a clinical appointment in the Division of Oncology, College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan and are also involved in teaching medical students and Residents including at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Job Requirements:

The successful applicant will have obtained or be in the final stages of obtaining fellowship standing in Radiation Oncology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have equivalent education, training and experience. Gynecologic Brachytherapy experience is considered an asset. 

The successful candidate must also be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan, meet the requirements for membership in the medical staff of the Saskatchewan Health Authority (Saskatoon) and hold valid CMPA coverage.

SBRT experience is considered an asset.
