Anatomical Pathologist (Clinical Academic)
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University, London Health Sciences Centre, and St. Joseph’s Health Care, is seeking an Anatomical Pathologist for a clinical academic appointment.
Position Profile: Candidates will hold a full-time, limited-term clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor or a continuing appointment as a Full Professor, depending upon experience and qualifications at the time of appointment. Early-career and mid-career applicants are welcome to apply and should have subspecialty training in at least one surgical pathology subspecialty. The successful candidate would be expected to participate in at least two subspecialty services in this subspecialized department, and will participate actively in the program’s academic initiatives including teaching and supervision of undergraduate students, residents, and clinical fellows as well as research and quality initiatives. A strong academic background and leadership experience would be assets.
Qualifications: Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent and be eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and must have postgraduate training/qualifications in Anatomical or General Pathology. Preference will be given to applicants who hold certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Medical Specialties. Applicants considered at the rank of Associate or Full Professor must have demonstrated the ability to publish in high quality academic and subspecialty journals and be a recognized expert in their field of research.
Academic and Clinical Environment: The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, a joint venture of London Health Sciences Centre (www.lhsc.on.ca) and St. Joseph’s Health Care London (www.sjhc.london.on.ca), is committed to providing a comprehensive range of routine and specialized testing and clinical consultation to patients within Southwestern Ontario and beyond. The Pathology Program is one of the largest single-sited programs in Canada, with an annual workload of approximately 60,000 surgical specimens, 20,000 cytology specimens and 900 autopsies. Compensation: Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be primarily composed of hospital funding aligned with the Ontario MOH Laboratory Medicine Funding Framework agreement.
