Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Position

indsor Regional Hospital (WRH), with 483 beds and an operating budget of half a billion dollars, is the regional provider of advanced specialized care for more than 400,000 people in Windsor and Essex County. The child & adolescent psychiatry inpatient unit of WRH is located at Maryvale Adolescent & Family Services. This is a 6 -bed acute inpatient unit with an average length of stay of approx. 1 week. Patients are usually admitted from ERs in Windsor, Leamington and Chatham. Maryvale is a mental health agency with day treatment and outpatient counseling services in addition to the acute inpatient unit. The psychiatrists work with a multidisciplinary spe-cialized team of social workers, child & youth workers and psychologists to provide care to youth experiencing serious psychiatric problems. Additionally, child psychia-trists can have private outpatient clinics and teach psychiatry residents.

Applicant Physicians must be certified/eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and must be certified/eligible in Psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC). Successful candidates will share the responsibility for youth inpatient services and on-call cov-erage with a team of child psychiatrists. Solid clinical and interpersonal skills are a must, and academic interest desirable.
