Interior Health is looking for an Executive Medical Director, Clinical Operations IH South to join and be a key member of the Medicine & Quality senior leadership team.

Executive Medical Directors (EMDs) in the Medicine and Quality portfolio provide strategic and operational advice to all medical services in Interior Health in dyad relationships. The Executive Medical Director, Clinical Operations IH South works in dyad partnership with Clinical Operations and provides leadership and support for medical staff and operational services across the IH South region, including Central and South Okanagan as well as Kootenay Boundary. This position also provides leadership and support for medical staff for Transport within IH.

The Executive Medical Director (EMD) provides senior medical administrative input into decision-making in relation to strategic and operational matters of the Executive Medical Group. The EMD provides leadership, direction, and support to the Chiefs of Staff (COS), Department Heads, and Medical Directors. The EMD builds the capacity for effective medical staff governance, integrated leadership, and physician engagement and improves the quality of medical care within Interior Health (IH) by collaborating directly with physicians, other healthcare professionals, portfolios, committees, and medical governance groups.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as an MD in BC.
  • A Master’s degree in hospital, healthcare, business administration, or an equivalent degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of clinical practice experience and at least 5 years of progressively more responsible leadership experience in a healthcare environment.
