GP Anaesthetist

Quinte Health is seeking a GP Anaesthestist to join our team of congenial and skilled Anaesthesiologists in a highly desirable community

Quinte Health Anaesthesiologists provide services for General Surgery, Endoscopy, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Psychiatry and Dental Surgery. Practice possibilities include lots of opportunities for family practice and work in the ER.

Quinte Health's Anaesthesiology group covers the Operating Rooms, obstetrical services, inpatient acute pain, and preoperative work. About 10,000 surgical procedures are carried out each year. Births at Quinte Health each year number between 1400 – 1500.

Home base will be Trenton Memorial Hospital, one of four sites making up Quinte Health which also includes Belleville General Hospital, Prince Edward County Hospital in Picton, and Bancroft.

The six operating rooms and pre- and post-surgical care areas at Belleville General Hospital were built in 2014. The operating rooms are large and are well-equipped with high-tech equipment. There are three modern ORs at the Trenton site and an endoscopy suite in Picton. The candidate will work in all three surgical sites with OBS at the Belleville site only. Expected OR time is 0.6 FTE with a high likelihood of more if desired.

The Quinte area is in south-eastern Ontario and is a wonderful place to live. The area includes some of the most diverse and beautiful countryside in Ontario. From the lakes of Bancroft down to the wine country, picturesque towns, and Sandbanks beach of Prince Edward County, and through the more urban Belleville/Quinte West/Brighton corridor alongside Lake Ontario, almost every lifestyle interest can be found within the communities served by Quinte Health. The region offers low cost of living, excellent amenities, excellent schools as well as quality local theatre, shopping and restaurants. Belleville and Quinte West are located along the highway 401 corridor, and Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Kingston are all easy driving distance.

Anaesthesiologists have the opportunity to educate and mentor residents from Queen's University.

Ideal candidates should have an interest in regional anaesthesia and acute pain management.

Payment is fee-for-service with call stipend.
