HEMATOLOGIST – OAKVILLE TRAFALGAR MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

The Department of Medicine at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is recruiting a full-time adult Hematologist.

Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is a new state-of-the-art, 1.6 million sq. ft. full-service acute care community hospital located in Oakville, Ontario (30 minutes west of Toronto or 20 minutes east of Hamilton). Our hospital has a robust hospitalist program to support inpatient care.

The scope of outpatient practice will be predominantly benign hematology and a smaller component of low-grade hematologic malignancies. The successful applicant will provide inpatient hematology consultation and cross-coverage of benign and malignant hematology inpatients in rotation with our three existing hematologists and will be supported by a nurse practitioner. Participation in the internal medicine call schedule will also be required.

The selected candidate will have access to outpatient clinic time in the hospital for consultations, procedures, phlebotomy, transfusions and infusions. The candidate will be encouraged and supported to help establish a robust thrombosis service for the hospital. There is also an expectation that the candidate will provide care to Halton residents in a community-based office practice.

Candidates must have an independent license with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). They must have fellowship standing in the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Internal Medicine and have completed additional training in Hematology.

Remuneration will be on a fee for service basis. Expressions of interest will be accepted until February, 28 2023 and must include a covering letter, up-to-date curriculum vitae, a description of previous specialty and any subspecialty training, and previous working experience. For further details or to submit an expression of interest please contact: Dr. John McPhaden, Medical Director, Cancer Services at [email protected]

We thank all applicants for their submissions; however, only qualified candidates will be contacted to attend a pre-application interview. All appointments are subject to an impact analysis and Board approval.
