Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists

Our client, Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH), is a multi-faceted health services organization operating from two main sites, the Metropolitan Campus and the Ouellette Campus.  With 600 beds and an operating budget of over half a billion dollars, WRH is the regional provider of advanced care in areas that include complex trauma, renal dialysis, cardiac care, stroke and neurosurgery, intensive care, acute mental health, family birthing centre, neonatal intensive care, paediatric services, and regional cancer services.  WRH provides a broad range of medical and surgical services required to support these specialized areas for more than 400,000 people in Windsor and Essex County.   Windsor Regional Hospital is seeking full-time or part-time Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists.

The Child & Adolescent Psychiatry inpatient unit of WRH is located at Maryvale Adolescent & Family Services.  Maryvale is a mental health agency with day treatment and outpatient counseling services in addition to the acute inpatient unit.  The 6-bed acute inpatient unit has an average length of stay of approximately 1 week with patients being admitted from ERs in Windsor, Leamington, and Chatham.

The Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists work with a multidisciplinary specialized team of Social Workers, Child & Youth Workers, and Psychologists to provide care to youth experiencing serious psychiatric problems.

Successful candidates will share the responsibility for youth inpatient services and on-call coverage with a team of Child Psychiatrists.  Staff Psychiatrists can also have personal offices where they attend private patients, either in post-hospitalization follow-up or as referred by other physicians in the community.  Shared office space is available.

Physicians at WRH have the opportunity to educate and mentor residents from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, with professional staff members being eligible to hold a University appointment.

Candidates must be certified, or be eligible for certification, by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent and hold, or be eligible for, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.  CPSO pathway licensure is available for US Board Certified Physicians.

Offering great flexibility and work/life balance, these full time or part time positions include a very attractive compensation, relocation, and incentive package complete with a very collegial, supportive team environment and a highly innovative leadership team.
