Medical Consultant

The Kidney Foundation of Canada is seeking a Nephrologist to act as an independent medical consultant to provide input into the development of a national chronic kidney disease (CKD) strategy. Working closely with global and national partners as well as multiple cross-functional Kidney Foundation team members, the incumbent will provide leadership to the strategy and will assume responsibility for:

 

  • Providing medical perspective and expertise in defining, shaping, and developing a Canadian CKD strategy
  • Identifying and building strategic relationships with stakeholders
  • Co-chairing the Steering Committee and sitting as a member of the project team and other working groups and committees as required
  • Working in collaboration with members of the strategy development team, including the National Director of Programs and Public Policy and the National Director of Research      

 

To succeed in this role, the incumbent will possess effective leadership abilities, strong communication, interpersonal and advocacy skills.  Extensive knowledge and understanding of chronic kidney disease and a commitment to decreasing the prevalence and burden of CKD in Canada is vital.  Experience with public policy and/or government relations and an understanding of the Canadian health care system will be a significant asset. The role will also require strong statistical and data interpretation skills, including critical appraisal, interpretation, and communication of data/information that is appropriately tailored to diverse audiences.Additionally, the incumbent must possess or have possessed a FRCPC in Internal Medicine and Nephrology or in Pediatrics and Nephrology.

 

It is expected that the incumbent will provide up to 80 hours per month of consultatory services to the project.  We anticipate launching this project in April 2023 and expect it to be completed by June 2025.
