General Cardiologist

We are seeking a full-time General Cardiologist to join our team at Royal Inland Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a unique niche setting and practice great medicine with lots of support. RIH sees over 1,500 patients in our emergency with cardiac related conditions. Our cardiac rehab clinic and heart function clinic offer hospital based out-patient services. Physician Services provides a full in-patient admitting and consultative service including Holter monitoring, ECGs and loop recording service, heart function clinic, exercise stress testing, nuclear medicine support, cardiac CT and MRI support. Royal Inland Hospital has a full service echo lab performing TTE, TEE, exercise stress echo and dobutamine stress echo. The RACE and Pacemaker clinics operates in the new state of the art Clinical Services Building at RIH which opened in December 2016. The four bed CCU was opened in 2019. The Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower opened at RIH in the summer of 2022. The tower includes a new operating room and surgical services suite, more beds, respiratory therapy services, mental-health and substance-use inpatient unit, obstetrics services, labour and delivery and a rooftop helipad. In the future there is opportunity to develop an outreach service to more remote communities. This is a great opportunity for any cardiologists who are passionate about strong culture of teamwork and patient centered care. The cardiology group is actively involved in clinical research with ongoing national and international trials. In addition to our ability to continuously develop our skills, we are a training site for medical students and residents going through their programs through UBC’s Southern Medical Program. Both medical students and residents rotate through Royal Inland Hospital as part of core and elective experiences.

Call Schedule / Compensation

  • On-Call Requirements: Approximately 1:6.
  • Payment Structure: Fee-For-Service
  • Compensation: Competitive.
  • Overhead: Overhead costs associated with group private practice only and shared by group.
  • Relocation Assistance: Applicable for 1.0 FTE positions, $9,000 - $15,000 based on move location (with eligible receipts). Incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer. 

Qualifications

  • Fellowship with the Royal College Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) in Cardiology.
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory.
