The Cancer Program at Windsor Regional Hospital is seeking a full-time staff Radiation Oncologist. This position offers excellent opportunities for a physician interested in joining a dynamic Radiation Treatment Program, with full spectrum expertise, opportunities for adjunct and tenure track academic advancement, and clinical research. Despite its relatively smaller size, the Program has a depth of expertise in treating all adult disease sites within a modern treatment facility.

The Windsor Regional Cancer Program serves the people of Windsor/Essex, Chatham-Kent and Sarnia/Lambton within the Erie St. Clair Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), representing a population base of approximately 650,000. The Radiation Oncology Program treats approximately 1600 new cases each year and with this newest recruitment will remain an 8 member group.

We provide radiation oncology expertise in adult oncology across all disease sites. Medical Oncology and Hematology services are well established as well as a 30 bed In-Patient Oncology Unit with nurse practitioner support. SBRT (brain mets, lung, and evolving experience in oligometastases) continues to evolve as further evidence guides this treatment approach. Participation in clinical trials with interest to move the Program forward remains a high priority.

The Cancer Centre has a progressive Radiation Treatment Program with the facility including three linear accelerators (Varian IX with Rapid Arc technology for VMAT treatment delivery), a 100 and 220kV orthovoltage x-ray unit (Xstrahl), a GE Discovery CT-simulator, a GammaMed after loader and Eclipse Treatment Planning platform with MOSAIQ Registration/Record and Verify systems, and a recently implemented hospital wide CERNER EMR . An additional 4th Linac bunker plan is in progress and we will be transitioning into a sequential replacement schedule with Varian TrueBeam units and new CT-Sim

Diagnostic facilities provide full spectrum imaging and optimal access and use for CT/MR and CT/PET based fusion for radiation planning.

The Cancer Program is an affiliate member of NRG through the University of Western Ontario and London Regional Cancer Program. Active clinical research initiatives, membership with NCIC are supported through our Clinical Trials Program. Academic opportunities include participation in the highly successful Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry with a full 4 year undergraduate MD Program, onsite Medical Physics residency and Medical Radiation Therapy Technology training.

Hiring arrangement is through joining the local Radiation Oncology Associates Partnership consistent with other Ontario Regional Cancer Programs and as members of the Ontario Association of Radiation Oncologists (OARO) under the Ontario Oncology Association Agreement.
