Mō te tūranga - About the role

This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE role with on-call duties, based in Dunedin. You are joining a team that values kindness and collaboration, with a view to the future of healthcare. As an introduction, we provide care for a population of approximately 350,000 spread over the lower South Island of New Zealand.

Our staff enjoy close relationships with the University of Otago, the School of Medicine and Otago Polytechnic School of Nursing. We benefit from continuous professional development, involvement with medical and nursing student training, participation in research and many more opportunities arising from working in a combined clinical-academic environment. Currently, we are a team of ten and there is equal participation in the after-hour roster for weeknights and weekends, and at times you will be a second on-call on the roster. Duties include patient management, leading ward rounds, undertaking clinical procedures, involvement audits, teaching, undertaking research and participating in continuing professional development.

Mōu ake - About you

As the successful candidate, you will have a broad Internal Medicine background. We are keen to hear from you if you are dual-trained, and will support an approach to the relevant service to support your additional interest. A Fellowship with the RACP or an overseas equivalent is essential, as is eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Applications from overseas physicians are welcome with a start date negotiated taking New Zealand registration and immigration requirements into consideration.

Utu whānui - Salary range

This role belongs to the ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($170,369) and Step 15 ($250,560 per annum pro rata) - dependant on prior experience and allowances in additional to this.
